Unveiling Grace Showing

“What if what you’ve believed your whole life isn’t the real Christ? Truth is everything. It does have eternal consequences.”  (–Lynn Wilder, former BYU Professor)

Sunday, February 23rd at 6pm we will be watching the film, Unveiling Grace. unveiling_grace_dvd

Eight individuals…devoted, faithful Mormons, with unshakable testimonies and a sincere love for the LDS Church…now say that they have found something greater.

What could possibly cause them to abandon what they had held near and dear? What could draw them to step away from the very foundation of their lives? What life could they possibly have found beyond Mormonism?

Come hear their stories. It may not be what you’re thinking.

Join us in the auditorium of Gospel Life Baptist Church at 6pm on February 23rd

Watch the trailer below.

Church Planter Dan Vaughn & Family

Daniel Vaughn, his wife Holly and family will be with us at Gospel Life in the morning service on January 5th 2013.

The Vaughns are church planters that plan to launch Hopes Point Baptist Church in Weston, WV in May of 2014. Daniel and Pastor Jayson went to the same high school in Harrison county. Currently, Daniel is the assistant pastor at Bible Baptist Temple in Stonewood, WV.

They will be presenting their ministry, ministering in music and Daniel will be ministering God’s Word. We hope you can join us on January 5th.

Schedule Plan for 12-15-2013

change of plans

Dearly Beloved,

Due to the weather changes, concern for your safety, and to steward our program options, the following alternative schedule is in effect for Sunday, December 15th, 2013:

There will not be a regular AM Worship Service. There will, however, be a Bible study and prayer time for whomever is able to make it at 10am. This will be a family integrated service so no childcare will be provided. Please plan to bring a shovel and gloves, as we’ll be clearing the parking lot and sidewalks.

The “main” service will not be canceled but will be delayed 8 hours:-) until our Christmas Program.

The Christmas Program begins at 6pm with a Finger Food Fellowship to Follow.

Note: Children & adults in the program will rehearse from 3-5pm.

Thank you for your flexibility and enthusiasm. Please invite your friends and relatives to the Christmas Program.

Share the event on facebook here.

Christmas Food Drive

As a church family we will be doing another food drive this year. Remember last year when we built a pulpit out of food?

This year’s plan is a little different. For two Sundays (December 1st & 8th) we will collect food donations. Those donations will be in a combined location in the church basement. After the 8th we want you (either as individuals, families, life-groups, or Sunday Classes) to make a basket/box for someone you feel is in need, deliver it to them, and wish them a Merry Christmas.

Please include some literature from the church in each box/basket.

Donations may be dropped off anytime, but especially on the December 1st & 8th.

Nonperishable Donations

We will have the food available until Christmas and then whatever is left will be donated to the Faith in Action food pantry.

As we consider this mercy ministry in our local community here are a few thoughts from the book one of our lifegroups is studying right now.

“We are hypocrites to pretend enthusiasm for overseas ministry while neglecting the miseries at home.” (Piper, Don’t Waste Your LIfe, 165)

“Foreign missions and hometown mercy are linked in the very nature of the Gospel that we are to send to the nations.” (Piper, Don’t Waste Your LIfe, 165)

Consider our chief example in giving, Jesus the Christ.

2 Corinthians 8:9  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

1 Peter 2:21-21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
